1959 Ford F-100 Panel Van

Let’s be honest: Back in the 1950s, no one bought panel vans as daily drivers. Instead, they were generally snapped up by plumbers, electricians, painters, carpenters and business owners needing a reliable local delivery vehicle. Most were worked to death and towed to the local junkyard for scrap value, which is why we appreciate repurposed examples when we find them.

This 1959 Ford F100 panel van, for sale on Hemmings.com, is neither stock nor a full-on restomod. Beneath the hood is a 351 Cleveland V-8, topped by a sensible 2-barrel carburetor and bolted to a three-speed manual transmission with a Hurst floor shifter. The painted steel wheels and baby moon hubcaps fly under-the radar, and the recently installed Autometer vintage gauges are a nice addition to the tastefully finished interior. Toy hauler? Sin bin? Unusual street rod? All of the above? It’s the next owner’s choice, but this truck appears up for the task. From the seller’s description:

Up for sale is my modernized and updated 1959 Ford F100 Panel Truck. It’s an older restoration that has held up exceptionally well over time. The motor is an early 70’s 351 Cleveland with a 2bl. Carb. The tranny is a floor mounted hurst 3 speed stick and I don’t know anything about the rear. Last month it was rewired with Autometer vintage gauges and a color backup camera discreetly placed above the rear view mirror. The brown leather style bench seat is electric and believed to be out of a Lincoln. The standard drum brakes and suspension look factory stock alond with the baby moon 15 X 7 Loadster tires.
