1963 Ford Falcon Futura Convertible

In 1963, the first year of the convertible, an upscale sporty version of the compact Futura was offered. With new thin-wall casting and an upgraded V8 engine, this vehicle was a great car to drive. This 1963 Ford Falcon Futura convertible has had a cosmetic and mechanical restoration by the previous owner. This vehicle has a good solid body. Restoration included new paint, new interior, new top, new tires, a newly rebuilt brake system, new tie rod ends, inner and outer ratios arm bushing in front, bump stops, pinion seal in differential, rebuilt carburetor, a major tune up, serviced transmission and new stainless steel exhaust system. This Falcon is also equipped with a 260 Challenger V8 engine. This classic automobile was part of a private classic car collection and would make a great vehicle to own, show and drive. This Ford also features the original working AM push-button radio and electric convertible top. Performance: 260 Challenger, 260cid overhead-valve V8, 164hp. Purchased the '63 Falcon in 1990 from a fireman in Denver, Colorado. It was an original lite yellow and repainted it a darker brighter Dodge Viper Yellow, '91 year. Installed a 302 engine with 351 Windsor heads and a hot camshaft. It was bored .40 over and every part on engine is brand new including the transmission. Also installed new front disc brakes for better stopping. Estimated 1,000 miles on motor since restored, as vehicle has sat in garage and not driven.

This car was Ford's resonse to the super charged Corvair Spider. With a 260CI V8 engine, bucket seats, 4 speed on the floor, chrome engine parts, tachometer on the dash, custom steering wheel and spinner hub caps it did a good job. Vehicle purchased in 1976 with mileage of about 68,000 miles. Had transmission overhauled at Mel Clayton Ford in early 80's at about 75,000 miles no receipt found. Started record keeping in "85". New brakes in "90" at 80,273 miles. Original steering wheel purchased and installed in 1995. Original tachometer purchased and installed at this same time. Carb rebuild in 1999. Timing chain and brake master cyl. rebuild in 2000. new tires in 2001 at 83,539. New radiator 2003. Tune up etc 2005. Have receipts for all work described. Car has been in a garage for the 30 years I have owned it. Even though there were long periods where I did not use the vehicle I started it and drove it weekly. Did other misc. repairs that I have no receipts for such as headliner, chrome pieces around tail lights, original gas cap. Arizona car born and raised.
